Problem running yeti on windows

Post Posted: Tue Aug 28, 2012 4:22 am
I'm running into a problem with running yeti on windows.

Whenever I run yeti as a hub only the first round test 'batch' executes successfully. After the first test batch is complete subsequent batches hang up and never complete. Reviewing the logs generated by the hub I see this exception:

Code:
AssertionError: Socket not writable.
    at BlizzardSession.xferRaw (..snip..\node_modules\yeti\lib\blizzard\session.js:303:5)
    at BlizzardSession.xferObject (..snip..\node_modules\yeti\lib\blizzard\session.js:327:10)
   .....

The client has this output during the second run:

Code:
Connected to http://localhost:9000
  Agent connected: Chrome (21.0.1180.83) / Windows 7
? Testing started on Chrome (21.0.1180.83) / Windows 7
Testing... / 0% complete (0/1) NaN tests/sec
Testing... | 0% complete (0/1) 62.50 tests/sec
Testing... \ 0% complete (0/1) 125.00 tests/sec

Again, the first run works as expected and if I don't use a hub everything works as expected. Its just multiple hub runs that fail.

Is this a known issue or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks -andy

Hi Andy!

Please try upgrading to Yeti 0.2.9. I have tried to fix Blizzard's "Socket not writable" bug in that release.

You can upgrade easily: npm install -g yeti

I have not tested Yeti extensively on Windows. I'll try this later today on a Windows box if you're still having trouble.

Thank you for using Yeti!

Reid,

Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately I've already tried that:

...>node_modules\.bin\yeti --version
0.2.9

I've also tried a bit older versions and the latest from git. All give the same response.

Andy,

My mistake! I apologize. You correctly posted that the culprit was an assertion failure in my own code. Yeti 0.2.9 made changes to Blizzard to handle failed socket writes; however, I did not remove these assertions.

I have pushed a fix to GitHub. You may install the latest code easily, too: npm install -g http://latest.yeti.cx

I have tested this with Node.js v0.8.8 and Windows XP and the fix works for a simple test case.

I've also noticed that I'm using escape sequences that don't work on Windows. I hope to improve the command-line experience for Windows users in future releases.

Thank you.

Reid,

Just wanted to follow up, the latest in git seems to fix the problem.

Thanks -andy
