I will look into this, the reason it's not focused is that we have more than half of our users that don't login with a username/password. They are OpenID or Twitter single sign-on users. It would be unfair to focus the one that it's used my the majority of our users.
I'll look into detecting if they are an OpenID user or a normal user and focus the appropriate field. Then fail back to the username field if I can't.
