Problem using Autocomplete with IO utility

I have an instance of Autocomplete on my page and when i try to use the yui io to pull in a .csv file, it suggests the word that was just chosen from the list, meaning that the drop down pops back open with the exact word that is in the input field. When i use just a local array, this problem doesnt happen. Any suggestions?
