IE 7: border of the message element visible if line breaks

Hello,

i have a problem with the datatable message element (i.e. loading data...) in IE 7.
The bottom border of the message element remains visible after sorting a column by server side pagination,
but only if the first row of the returned result set has line breaks (content too wide for the column)
There are a requirement for my application, that some rows can contain line breaks.

I know, it is a know bug of IE 7, that the borders of a table remain visible if the table was initially hidden,
then show und hidden agai.

Is there a workaround for this problem?

Why does yui use a tbody element for the message element, although evebody knows about the ie bug?
To discredit microsoft?

Thanks and sorry for my bad english
