Firefox crashing with multiple modal overlays

I've got a problem when a second modal overlay is displayed when one is already on screen. In firefox 3.6 on Ubuntu it crashes pretty hard.

I've whipped up a JS fiddle that I can reproduce the bug with: http://jsfiddle.net/nzjames/rnYrC/ (maybe try in webkit first)

Removing the modal plugin from the second panel removes the issue.
Also opening just the second panel doesn't cause a crash either.

Has anybody run into this?
