How to create a dynamic selection list?

Hi,

I would be grateful for any guidance/suggestions on the best way to sole the following problem:

I have a long list of links shown on a web page, but I need to get supplemental info from the user when he mouses over it and before he clicks it. Once the info is collected (onlick), it should be appended to the URL query string and the script should then click the link.

The supplemental info is a choice of one of three things so I think a dhtml hovering selection list would suit. All the links are in the same class so YUI3 makes attaching the listener very easy, but I could really use help on how to build and present the 3 item selection list, and how to detect the choice made.

TIA,
Nick Weavers

Hi,

If you're not already, use delegated event listeners - good for performance and maintenance.

You probably want the Overlay http://developer.yahoo.com/yui/3/overlay/ if you want to build the selection box thing yourself, or you could take a look in the gallery - there's a few dialog/overlay modules there that may or may not be what you're looking for...

Thanks Matt. The Overlay looks just like what I need.
