I've been using YUI in production environments since 2.2.x (if memory serves), and I just wanted to thank the YUI team and contributors for all of your hard work.
At my last job, my team built a suite of enterprise reporting software using exclusively YUI JavaScript and CSS, including an implementation of the updatable datatable that worked as an extension to the Ruby on Rails scaffolding pattern: make a table, point the datatable instance at it, and you have an instant updatable table in a browser. We also used DragDrop, Autocomplete, Charts, Container, Animation, and I'm sure several others. I've recently moved on to another organization, KaBOOM!, a national non-profit that empowers communities to build playgrounds, as their first and only developer. Now that I don't have a team around me, YUI has become even more critical to the success of my projects, since I can generally trust that cross-platform issues have been addressed. You can see an example of this in action in the modal roadblock at http://kaboom.org (until 10/28/2009 at least). I am also using YUI extensively in some of our other products, like the KaBOOM! playground builder (http://projects.kaboom.org). Anyways, thanks again for all of your hard work. YUI is an unbelievably excellent resource, and in a (maybe not so) roundabout way, it empowers organizations like KaBOOM! to empower others to do great things. Elliot Laster Web Developer, KaBOOM! |
